CHILLED & DISTILLED WITH PUMP
Join us at the Larimer Brewpub for a scientific presentation by Dr. Buckanovich! Organized by the Pittsburgh Urban Magnet Project.
Dr. Buckanovich, MD, PhD, is a Professor of Medicine at Pitt; Director, Ovarian Cancer Center of Excellence, and Co-Director, Women’s Cancer Research Center, Magee Womens Research Institute; and Co-Leader, Cancer Biology Program, UPMC Hillman Cancer Center.
Dr. Buckanovich studies a population of inherently therapy resistant ‘quiescent’ cancer cells which are a primary driver of disease recurrence and death. These cells can not only increase chemotherapy resistance in neighboring cancer cells but also inactivate anti-tumor immune responses with the combined effect to drive cancer recurrence and growth. His lab is developing new therapies to slectively target these quiescent cells to prevent ovarian cancer deaths - helping mothers live longer to care for their families.
This event will center around a presentation by Dr. Buckanovich where he will discuss the above information in an understandable way as he talks through the various subjects.
Whether you’re a science enthusiast, a curious learner, or someone who believes in the power of innovation to drive change, this event is for you. Enjoy a complimentary EEBC drink (after signing in), meet fellow professionals, and discover how your curisotiy - and your support - can help fuel the next wave of discovery.
The presentation will begin at 6pm!
