In all the prep this week for the Charity Open House, I've neglected this week's updates - but, it's the same beer lineup as last week...while we await the massive FOUR BEER DEBUT coming on Saturday the 8th at the Charity Open House! So, here's how the beer lineup is looking. Tickets are still available here , but my guess is that the second session will sell out soon. See you here, and see you then! Cheers - Scott Just like last year, we're having our special EXTENDED GROWLER HOURS this week to cover all your Thanksgiving Fresh Beer needs:
(See? Just like it says over there on the right --->) On tap will be Big Hop IPA, Black Strap Stout, Fat Gary Nut Brown Ale, East End Witte, and LOTS and LOTS of Snow Melt Winter Ale...guaranteed NOT to run out this week, with a full batch in-house! Or if you'd like to bring something special to the table this year, we've got plenty of Cellar-aged Gratitude 2006 and even a few boxes of Smokestack Heritage Porter. The details are out for the 2007 East End Brewing Charity Open House, and tickets go on sale today - that's Saturday, NOV 10th. Read more HERE. Cheers - Scott ![]() It's a battle that will go on all Winter long... winter's chill freezing the rainwater to snow, and SNOW MELT WINTER ALE melting it back again. How did this start? When will it end? Who will prevail? More importantly, when did I get so melodramatic? I just wanted to show off the spiffy new artwork! This week (Nov 5-9) at Growler Hours, it's SNOW MELT WINTER ALE, BLACK STRAP STOUT, FAT GARY NUT BROWN ALE, EAST END WITTE, BIG HOP IPA... and in bottles, SMOKESTACK HERITAGE PORTER and now back from a long break, fully rested and ready for the cold, Cellar Aged GRATITUDE 2006! If you stopped in Saturday, you were lucky enough to stumble upon the unannounced debut of this year's first batch of SNOW MELT WINTER ALE! Clocking in at a melty 7% abv, this Winter Warmer is guaranteed to melt the fog off your glasses... It's on tap for the whole season during Growler Hours, along with BLACK STRAP STOUT, EAST END WITTE, and FAT GARY NUT BROWN ALE. BIG HOP IPA will be out of stock for Tuesday this week, but returning on THURSDAY night. And Tuesday should be the last chance for PEDAL PALE ALE this year... *sob*. But keep that bike tuned up for the Spring Keg Ride when it makes it's return! See you here - Cheers, Scott Well, I got some sad news earlier in the week...if you've been out for Growler Hours this past week, you got some too: We're all out of Harvest. Despite making twice the amount I made last year, it's run out twice as fast. That last keg of Kvass has also kicked, so we're down to 5 on tap - plus the last 8 cases of the Smokestack Porter. Don't be too sad though. Winter may come early this year. Cheers -Scott You may have noticed if you were here on Thursday for Growler Hours that we're back up to not 6 but SEVEN beers on tap! Big Hop, Fat Gary and Witte have retaken their rightful places among the Harvest, Black Strap, Pedal Pale Ale, and the last keg of non-sour KVASS in the United States... Another tragedy narrowly averted. Oh, and while I have your attention, the Wet-Hopped Beer Fest was JAMMED last night at Kelly's (thanks for coming out everyone), and they've run out of everything wet-hopped <sob>... except the well stocked reserves of Big Hop Harvest Ale. Come to Kelly's Bar and Lounge if you'd like to taste 5 local wet-hopped beers, all on tap starting at 7pm this Thursday! Check out this Post Gazette article for more info, and I'll see you there - right after Growler Hours. Cheers - Scott Not only are we completely out of BIG HOP IPA, but EAST END WITTE and FAT GARY NUT BROWN ALE are following suit! We've still got a bit of each in the brewery stash here, but it won't last long. I'm brewing a record 5 BATCHES this week to climb out of the hole, but they won't be ready for at least another week... So for now, on tap for Growlers, it's BIG HOP HARVEST, BLACK STRAP STOUT, EAST END WITTE, PEDAL PALE ALE (summer seasonal, fading fast...), FAT GARY NUT BROWN ALE, and SOURDOUGH KVASS. And, we're down to our last 10 Cases of SMOKESTACK Heritage Porter... so if you'd like to cellar some, now would be a good chance to stock up! Cheers, Scott Hey, watch for the upcoming winter issue of PQ (that's Pittsburgh Quarterly ), with a nice little feature on the grinning fool in the photo above...
