Just a quick add to the list below - a BRAND NEW BEER will be on tap today (Saturday March 15). Monkey-Boy is a Hefewiezen with a distinct banana ester character about it... get it? Monkeys... bananas? It's super-fresh! See you soon - Cheers, Scott Is it mid-March already? Shouldn't it be Spring by now? I can't tell if it's early or late. All I know is that the new Spring Seasonal will be out soon (Saturday, in fact), and I've REALLY been neglecting this little Brewer's Blog lately. So, The Bitter End of 2007 is now behind us, and we're winding through the last kegs of Session Ale #12 - The Best Bitter. But we've got plenty of Big Hop IPA, East End Witte, Fat Gary Nut Brown Ale, Dubbel Trubbel, and just in time for the big parade weekend, Black Strap O'Stout, our American Stout that like the rest of us, pretends to be Irish for a day or two this month. Bottles of Three - our triple anniversary beer, and cellar aged Gratitude 2006 await, though you'll still be a-waiting for this year's Gratitude, while I get the label thing together. This week, we're pouring 7 draft beers, and we've got two in bottles... Big Hop IPA, Black Strap Stout, East End Witte, Fat Gary Nut Brown Ale, The Bitter End (last keg!), Session Ale #12: "Best Bitter", Double Trouble - the winning beer from this year's Sharp Edge Homebrew competition. In bottles, it's 2006 Gratitude and Three, our triple anniversary beer... still making you wait for the 2007 Gratitude though. See you soon - Scott ![]() YOU FOUND US...Pittsburgh's MICRO-est microbrewery! If you're new around here, this site should get you up to speed in no time - and you can always come visit during our "Growler Hours", and we can pour you a taste to make up for some of that lost time. Hope to see you soon! Cheers, Scott
Yes, this weekend is President's Day, so that means it's time for our annual White Sale... so our entire stock of towels, bedding ,and East End Witte will be on sale 2-for-1 this Saturday during Growler Hours. Also on tap are Big HopIPA, Black Strap Stout, Fat Gary Nut Brown Ale, Session Ale #12: "Best Bitter", Session Ale #11: "The Bitter End", and Best of the Burgh homebrew competition winner "Dubbel Trubbel" - a belgian dubbel ale brewed with 20 lbs fo fresh organic raisins! Yes, we had a couple debuts here without you... stop in a little more often, eh? Cheers - Scott Stop by Growler Hours on Thursday and git yer tickets here! Both Saturday and Sunday tickets will be in hand here by 5pm Thurs (Feb 7th)... according to Dan-the-man. So don't dilly-dally. Space is limited. Cheers - Scott Some background, lifted from the last EEBC newsletter: "HELL WITH THE LID OFF" RETURNS... The biggest and baddest barleywine festival the Eastern US has to offer is back - and it's right here in Pittsburgh. Kelly's Bar and Lounge with again be the site of the largest collection of Barleywines available under one roof (including Gratitude 2007... possibly some older vintages too). Two days, four hour sessions, with beer friendly food, barleywines old and new, domestic and imported, big and bigger, and small manageable samples make this one of my favorite events of the year. Tickets go on sale Growler Hours and at Kelly's - $35 in advance, $45 at the door. Feb 23: 4-8pm (sold out last year), Feb 24th: 2-6pm. If you need directions or other info, call Kelly's at 412-363-6012. This week at Growler Hours, we're pouring Big Hop IPA, The Bitter End, Black Strap Stout, East End Witte, Snow Melt Winter Ale (winding down for the season...), and in honor of this special day, 2-for-1 fills of Fat Gary Nut Brown Ale! Too bad the big man himself can't be here to enjoy it... But, we've still got bottle conditioned THREE (our triple anniversary ale) and cellar-aged 2006 Gratitude Barleywine. See you soon! Cheers - Scott In addition to the regular offerings, I've managed to stock a few sixtels of BIG HOP IPA here for your last-minute, game-day, the-Steelers-aren't-in-it-so-I'll-need-more-beer-this-time, festivities. Just stop in during regular Growler Hours and pick one up. For once, the "pop-in" works! For those looking for something more in the half gallon variety, this week we're pouring Big Hop IPA, Black Strap Stout (back in stock!), East End Witte, Fat Gary Nut Brown Ale, Grisette, The Bitter End, and Snow Melt Winter Ale... in addition to hand bottled 2006 Gratitude and our Triple Anniversary Beer, THREE. We kicked our last keg of Black Strap Stout on Tuesday night, so we're down to SEVEN on tap - darned, if it isn't always something! More in a week or so... Also, consider this week the LAST CALL for Grisette and Cherry Grisette, as the last keg of each are currently tapped. Whew - that went quickly! See you soon - Cheers, Scott So, we're finally all caught up from the holiday rush, and pouring our full range of year round, seasonal, and one-off beers... the total is now EIGHT! Big Hop IPA, Black Strap Stout, East End Witte, Fat Gary Nut Brown Ale, The Bitter End, Grisette, Cherry Grisette, and Snow Melt Winter Ale. Plus, we're more than half way through our stash of both THREE, our Triple Anniversary Ale, and Cellar-aged 2006 Gratitude Barleywine. Whew - that only took 2 weeks to get caught up! Cheers - Scott |
