Gratitude 2009 Release Day: March 6, 2010

GRATITUDE FOR GRATITUDE RELEASE DAY!

Post-release Re-cap: 3-12-10

Now that we've almost completely recovered here, I wanted to post a
quick note of thanks to everyone who came out for our big
Gratitude/Wooden Nickel Release day last weekend. (Scroll down a bit if you don't know what I'm talking about.)  I'm not sure who
traveled the furthest, but I talked to people from all
over PA, West Virginia, Maryland, Ohio, and even New Jersey.  You GOOD
BEER Fans are truly the best I could ever ask for, and I really appreciate you making the trip, for making this event grow as it has year after year, and
for all of your kind words throughout the day.

Overall, the turnout far exceeded my expectations, but thankfully,
not our supply of beer.  We blew through almost exactly one third of
our 1500 bottles of 2009 Gratitude on Saturday, a whole bunch of our Wooden Nickel
Saison, and whole bunch MORE Growler fills up front.  (The Gratitude number kinda scared me, since
there were only 2 signed/waxed cases left when we closed the door!)  But more than
this, I'm completely delighted to report that we managed to have enough
of our 3, 4, and 5 year stacked vertical packs on hand so that nobody who wanted one, left empty handed.  Whew!

Here's a few links to video and photos from the event, including some
from the post-release gathering at the library later that same day.
If you've got more photos that I should include here, drop me a line here with a link, and I'll be happy to add it to the list.

StoryTellerCody's photos (Thanks Cody for posting these and for letting me swipe 'em for this page without asking!)

http://bit.ly/ckEuXE (Thanks to Jacob Wayne Smith for shooting/posting this - AND the wet label photo below too!)

So hey, thank you for coming out.  And I especially appreciate all of
you that brought food and/or beer to share!  This whole beer community
is what makes doing this for a living so incredibly enjoyable - well
that, and all the GOOD BEER!  I'm just thrilled to be a small part of
it.

Hope to see you again soon!  Cheers - Scott

IT'S FINALLY READY...or at least it will be on the 6th:

The beer has been in bottles for a while now, the labels have been printed and applied, and they're nearly dry.  That means it's time for me to start waxing, signing, and numbering here - and book the release day!  Here's what I know about the details so far.  I'll fill in more info and pricing once I've had a chance to sort it all out:

At the brewery, on this day only, we will have:

1. Gratitude 2009 ($18) (Actually, we'll have this one for a while.)
2. Woodel Nickel 5th Anniversary Saison ($15+3 deposit)
3. Possibly some "dirty label" Gratitude of older vintages ($tbd)
4. But generally, Gratitude 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008 will only be available in these Stacked Vertical packs:

Three-year "Stacked Vertical" is...

  • 3 bottles of Gratitude 2009
  • 2 bottles of Gratitude 2008
  • 1 bottle  of Gratitude 2007

Four-year "Stacked Vertical" is...

  • 4 bottles of Gratitude 2009
  • 3 bottles of Gratitude 2008
  • 2 bottles of Gratitude 2007
  • 1 bottle  of Gratitude 2006

Five-year "Stacked Vertical" is...

  • 5 bottles of Gratitude 2009
  • 4 bottles of Gratitude 2008
  • 3 bottles of Gratitude 2007
  • 2 bottles of Gratitude 2006
  • 1 bottle  of Gratitude 2005

We're a cash-only operation - no plastic. ALL PRICES INCLUDE ALL TAXES (once I post them), so these numbers will not go up by 7%, or even 10% when it's time to settle up. It's already in the price. There are no deposits, no returns on Gratitude bottles. (Please recycle them though.)

PRICING: Each year we hold the beer, we bump the price up by 7 bucks per bottle.  So given that, here's the price and the breakdown of each pack:

5yr Stacked Vertical:  $400
2005 46
2006 39 39
2007 32 32 32
2008 25 25 25 25
2009 18 18 18 18 18

4yr Stacked Vertical:  $240
2006 39
2007 32 32
2008 25 25 25
2009 18 18 18 18

3yr Stacked Vertical:  $130
2007 32
2008 25 25
2009 18 18 18

WE DO HAVE OUR LIMITS:
So that everyone gets a chance to get some at "brewery prices", I'm imposing some purchasing limits on what you can take out of here, per person, per visit - which I suppose means that you can get some, put it in the car, and get back in line for more. Short of dipping everyone's thumb in purple ink, this will have to do for this year...we'll see how it goes, especiall since I'm low on pretty much all of the older years. Traders are welcome - ebay resellers, not so much. Come early, come often.
So, here they are:

  • 2009 Gratitude - 12 bottle limit.
  • Stacked Vertical Packs - 2 total pack limit until everyone has had a chance.
  • Wooden Nickel Saison - no limit!

Edit: Some clarification here, since I've had questions: REGULAR TABLE MANNERS APPLY...as in yes, you may come back for seconds, but only after everyone has had a chance for "firsts".

NOW FOR THE OTHER STUFF:
We'll also have...

  • Free tasters of 2009 Gratitude, maybe some older stuff too.
  • Free tasters of WOODEN NICKEL - Our 5th Anniversary Saison in swingtop bottles.
  • UPDATE 3/2/10: WOODEL NICKEL labels are approved, so we'll have this for sale on Saturday too!
  • Seven or Eight other beers on tap for tasting and for Growler Fills, as we'll be open for regular Growler Hours.
  • A BYOBeer table, where you are welcome to bring in any homebrew or commercial beers from your cellar to share with whoever you like...or don't like.
  • A BYOFood table, where you can do the same thing with snacks, potluck style. We'll have some plates and napkins here, and I'll pick up some cheeses to go with the Barleywine.
  • I'll even put the heat on.

ACCESSIBILITY NOTES:

  • Well supervised kids are always welcome at the brewery during our regular Growler Hours, and that includes this event.
  •  East End Brewing is not an ADA compliant facility, but we'll do what we can to accommodate your needs, including bringing bottles or Growlers right to your car. (Sorry, no tasters outside the building though.)
  • Just give us a call if you need a little extra attention, and we'll be happy to do what we can to help.

See you here! Cheers - Scott
