Monkey-Boy - Swinging from tank to tank around here, we've come up with the perfect way to enjoy a bright sparkling taste of summer, no matter what the season may be. Now a year round offering, this fresh local hefeweizen carries a distinct banana ester profile, and crisp finish. No bananas were harmed or peeled in the brewing of this beer. It's just a little side benefit that our German yeast strain gives us.
Session Ale - A limited availability series of small batch, lighter bodied, easy drinking ales with gentle malt character, mild hop bitterness, and lower alcohol levels to permit a long drinking “session”. Each batch is a unique brew in this broad style. Great on cask, and the perfect beer to spend an entire afternoon with. (More )
Big Hop IPA - Loads of Centennial and Cascade hops make this a truly American IPA, brewed to be VERY hoppy but not especially bitter, balanced with a solid Munich Malt backbone. Our flagship, and by far, our most popular beer. (More)
Fat Gary Nut Brown Ale - Once part of the Session Ale series, and now a year-round offering, this deep brown ale is surprisingly light in body and low in alcohol. Its dark malt character and light sweetness make it a beer that can be enjoyed all afternoon. Now East End has a beer that “non-hopheads” like Gary can call their very own.
Black Strap Stout - An American Stout brewed with Black Strap Molasses and Brown Sugar - robust and roasty with notes of dark chocolate, and black coffee. Extremely dark, balanced with light sweetness, and a modest American hop flavor. (More)
Our Seasonal Beers
-Available in "Tall Quarters"-
East End Witte - (SPRING) A "Belgian White" wheat beer, gently spiced with coriander and bitter orange peel. Light bodied with hints of orange and lemon. A great beer to have in hand as Spring arrives in Pittsburgh, which can take a while. (More)
Pedal Pale Ale - (SUMMER) An American Pale Ale, crisp and hoppy with light malt sweetness and fruity esters. Hopped four times with just one variety, originally brewed to celebrate Bike-Pittsburgh's “Bike Fest!" back in 2005. Since then, each year we release the beer by doing a KEG RIDE - a low speed group tour of the East End, delivering the first keg of the year to a mystery tap spot. Look for it around town wth the most unique, salvaged-bike-parts tap handle you’ve ever seen. (More)
Big Hop HARVEST Ale - (FALL) Each fall, I take your year-round favorite, Big Hop IPA and do something really special to celebrate the September hop harvest. There’s a small window where I can get fresh-picked, undried, green, locally grown hops to toss into the kettle. These “wet hops” provide a truly unique flavor and aroma, almost like the smell of freshly cut grass – if your lawn was completely planted with American hops! Available sometime late September/early October and lasting until it’s all gone. See pictures and descriptions from past Harvest brew sessions in our Photo Gallery.
Snow Melt Winter Ale - (WINTER) A rich malty, deep ruby-red, lightly spiced (and I mean REALLY lightly) winter ale, best used for frost removal, holiday toasting, and guaranteed to clear the fog off your glasses. Released with the first snowflakes of the year, and lasting until it all melts in March...or April. Hopefully.
The Bitter End - A "small beer" available near year's-end from the second runnings of the mash for Gratitude, a bit like a pale ale, but with a bitterness that just keeps on going and going... Since they're ready much sooner, small beers can be an excellent preview of what their bigger siblings will be like. Look for this beer in limited supply in November and December, and lasting until it's all gone.
Gratitude Barleywine - A limited edition Barleywine Style Ale, brewed in November in the American tradition and hand packaged to specially commemorate the yearly anniversary of the brewery. Returning every year in bottle conditioned form, and an occasional keg. (More)
Our One-Off Beers
-Available in various forms as indicated-
The Ugly American - A perfectly enjoyable classic Belgian Trippel corrupted almost beyond recognition with a completely inappropriate amount of US hops. Only in America can such excessive excesses be fully appreciated, celebrated, and enjoyed...and for now, only at East End Brewing! Second run of this beer was released 10/11/2008, and is now SOLD OUT. (More)

Kvass/Sourdough Kvass: This was a beer from our Session Ale series that we still get a lot of calls about. (Sorry but no, we don't have any and no we can't ship beer.) We did two batches of it with Tom Baker a while back, and while we may brew it again some day, there's no plans to do it any time soon.
Smokestack Heritage Porter: Currently ranked the #1 Smoked Beer in the world on Beer Advocate, this single batch went into bottles, plus a few kegs around town. Back in stock at the brewery as part of our FESTIVAL OF DARKNESS, and available starting December 23rd, 2008.
TOASTER Imperial Stout: We checked the gift registry, and appliances are appropriate for our Fourth Anniversary. This beer is an Imperial version of our Black Strap Stout, this time brewed with MORE blackstrap molasses and MORE brown sugar, plus a whole lot more malt and hops too. Part of our FESTIVAL OF DARKNESS, this one clocks in at over 10%ABV, and is the thickest beer we've ever brewed here. SOLD OUT, and we'll brew it again just as soon as we have another 4th Anniversary. I promise.
HOMEWOOD RESERVE: This is your year round favorite Black Strap Stout that's been aged in a Bourbon Barrel, and then bottle conditioned in our big 1 liter swingtop returnable bottles. Available at the brewery starting December 23rd, 2008 as part of our FESTIVAL OF DARKNESS and lasting until it's all gone.
